Sony Ericsson M610i is a mobile phone that everyone has been talking about for almost a year now, but it still didn't get an official launch or even a future release date. While at the beginning the rumors said the phone doesn't even exist, it actually does, as it's been approved by FCC in May 2007 and since then various leaked images have been spotted. Moreover, a prototype of the phone was made available for sale via eBay Germany.

Now Sony Ericsson M610i surfaced again, on the Swedish website Mediaprovider. Anyway, this doesn't mean the phone will be released soon, it only shows that the handset exists, which we already knew.

Sony Ericsson M610i has very nice specifications and it's intended mainly for business use. The handset is a 3G UTMS 2100 tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 device that operates on Symbian and comes with an innovative full QWERTY keypad. Measuring 106 x 55 x 17 millimeters and weighing 116 grams, the phone has a QVGA 262K Color Touchscreen with a 240 × 320 pixel resolution. Among its most important specifications we must name Handwriting recognition, Media player, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Jog Dial Navigation, FM Radio with RDS and Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot.

Looking at the handset's features, we might say that M610i is another version of Sony Ericsson P1i, released by the Swedish-Japanese joint venture back in July 2007. However, while P1i and almost all new decent mobile phones have a built-in photo camera, Sony Ericsson decided the M610i doesn't need one and, in consequence, the phone comes without this common feature. This may not be a drawback for those who don't necessarily want to take pictures with their phone, but will definitely be a disadvantage to those many people who don't even conceive that a good handset can lack a camera.

It's not clear whether Sony Ericsson M610i will be indeed released someday or if it will remain just a prototype, so we're waiting for some official details regarding the long-discussed phone.
