Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is the first handset vendor in the world to have launched an Android Market channel, offering its users the possibility to find applications for their devices much easier than before.

The channel comes with a series of features aimed at providing users with an improved experience, including recommendations, an option to find original apps from the company, or to access exclusive games.

The new feature has been put in place only for some of the company's customers, since its availability would depend on the wireless carrier they are using.

“Today we’ve launched our very own channel in Android Market,” Sony Ericsson's Rikard Skogberg notes in a recent post on the company's product blog.

“We’re the first mobile phone manufacturer to do this and I’m really excited to see what we will be able to use it for. It should start to become available for most of you out there starting from today. It is an operator dependent feature though so it will not be there for all of you but most of you will get it.”

Basically, the new feature would be present on the user's devices as a link that would replace the “My Apps” option in Android Market.

Although Sony Ericsson customers would benefit from this direct link to the company's specific channel in the app portal, “My Apps” will still be available for them through pressing the menu key.

Some of the main features that the channel would offer to Sony Ericsson users include:

- Provide recommendations to help you find the best games & apps that enhance your Sony Ericsson ‘most entertaining’ experience. - Provide a way to easily find original apps from Sony Ericsson such as Timescape plugins etc. - From time to time offer exclusive games & apps only available in this channel. - Help our developer partners promote their apps & games giving them a highlighted market space to our consumers.

According to the company, the new channel was meant to offer users the possibility to find applications and content that interests them in a easier manner than before. It would also enhance the experience they receive from their devices.
