The Cyber-shot king finally hits the US

Although Sony Ericsson K850, the flagship of the Cyber-shot series, was released in Europe in October 2007, the US users still can't enjoy its high-end features. But this fact will change soon, as FCC approved Sony Ericsson K850a, the US version of K850, and apparently the handset will make its debut via AT&T. We say this because the phone's user manual found on the FCC website is full of details related to the largest North American mobile carrier, like AT&T Music, AT&T Mall and so on.

There's also a rumor about a release date for K850a, somewhere at the end of March, but it's nothing official, so the US users who have been waiting the Cyber-shot phone should patiently wait a bit more. Or move to Canada, where Roger Wireless already sells it.

Fort those who don't know (or forgot) the phone's specs, we have them right here. Sony Ericsson K850 measures 102 x 48 x 17 millimeters, weighs 118 grams and packs a 2.2 inch TFT 256K colors screen with a 240 x 320 pixels resolution. As a true king of the Cyber-shot series, K850 brings a 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus, xenon flash, auto lens cover and video recording - one of the best cameras integrated at this time into a mobile phone.

Other features of the handset include quad-band GMS connectivity and tri-band 3G/HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, secondary video-call camera, motion sensor, Media player (MP3, AAC and MPEG4 support), FM radio with RDS, TrackID, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, Picture editor & blogging, Java MIDP 2.0 and the well-known UIQ interface (well-known for those who have been using other SE phones until now, of course). Moreover, we have Memory Stick Micro (M2) and microSD cards support (a 512 MB card is already included) and a powerful Li-Po 930 mAh battery that should provide a talk-time of up to 9 hours and a stand-by time of up to 400 hours.

Awaiting the K850's US release, for more (tons, actually) pictures and details about it you can check out a full review made by Softpedia, found at this address.
