Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is one of the first handset vendors to have launched new devices at the IFA 2011 conference in Berlin, and the company's new Xperia arc S is one of the first smartphones to arrive at this year's event.

The new mobile phone comes with a sleek design, similar with the one the company packed with their Xperia arc device that went official at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early 2011, but adds a great deal in the entertainment area.

With a faster application processor when compared to the predecessor, namely a 1.4Ghz one, the new arc S come should be able to deliver up to 25 percent faster camera start up and media conversion, not to mention that the web browsing on it is around 20 percent faster when compared to Xperia arc.

The new Xperia arc S also packs a series of top of the line technologies from Sony, including 3D sweep panorama, which enables users to view images shot with the handset's camera on a 3D TV using the HDMI output.

Moreover, it comes with a series of features that are specific to all 2011 Xperia smartphones from Sony, including:

- “Music Unlimited” has a global catalogue of over 10 million unique songs with access to your personal music library and ad free radio channels across multiple devices.

- “Video Unlimited” (currently exclusive to Sony Ericsson Xperia) is the ultimate source for the latest Hollywood blockbusters, all-time classics, and TV shows from all major studios.

The new Xperia arc S sports a 4.2” Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, along with an 8.1MP camera that offers support for HD video recording, and the ability to shoot great photos even in low light conditions thanks to Sony's Exmor R for mobile image sensor.

The new mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and offers support for a wide range of services from the Internet giant, as well as for applications and games that can be downloaded from the Android Market.

Nikolaus Scheurer, head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson said: “Xperia arc S is the fastest and most entertaining Xperia to date and it clearly demonstrates how the Xperia family are the best smartphones to experience great entertainment services such as Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.”

The new Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S is expected to become available for purchase in selected markets sometime in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year.
