Sony Ericsson’s latest move in the Symbian area of the mobile phone market is one aimed at complementing a move made only several months ago. The joint-venture announced on Sunday at the MWC 2010 show in Barcelona the launch of Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro, a QWERTY-enabled successor of the Symbian-based Vivaz, which was launched recently. According to the company, the new model should enhance the communication experience of users through offering a fast solution when it comes to texting, emailing or connecting to social networking sites.

The new Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro also packs the high-end features that Sony Ericsson included in Vivaz, such as the HD video capabilities and the possibility to broadcast clips online. Not to mention that users have the option to download a great deal of applications for its Symbian S6 5th Edition OS from the PlayNow arena and the Symbian Developer Community.

“Having announced Sony Ericsson Vivaz in January we are now adding a sister phone that includes a QWERTY keyboard along with the touch screen for a superior messaging and entertainment experience,” said Daniel Sandblom marketing business manager, Sony Ericsson. “Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro meets the increased consumer demand for QWERTY devices without compromising on any entertainment features.”

According to the leading mobile phone maker, the new Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro comes with a new design philosophy, ’human curvature’, which should arrive in other devices from the company too. “Designed to mirror the shape of the human body, and at the same time delivering a precise and compelling way of interacting with the phone, Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro is instantly recognisable,” the company notes.

Among the specs of the new mobile phone, we can count a 720 MHz processor, a full slide-out keyboard for faster typing, a 3.20inch touchscreen display, a 5.1-megapixel camera with auto focus, video recording and video light, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, FM radio, A-GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack, TV out, messaging features including IM, SMS, MMS and Email and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16 GB of additional storage space (8 GB microSD card included). The new device should land in Q2 in Black and White.
