Sony Ericsson confirmed today the existence of Z780 and G502, and it also released official images and details about the two handsets. Both phones are 3G-enabled (for a good mobile Web experience) and are set to hit the market in a few months.

Sony Ericsson Z780 is a new clamshell that follows the line of Z770, but brings a slightly changed design and more advanced features. Weighing exactly 100 grams and measuring 92 x 49 x 16 millimeters (when closed), Z780 offers quad-band GSM plus tri-band HSDPA connectivity, hence it's about all a users might want when it comes to frequencies. The phone packs a 2.2 inch internal TFT screen (256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels), an external 36 x 128 pixels monochrome display, built-in A-GPS, Google Maps, push email, NetFront 3.4 Internet browser, Instant Messaging, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, the latest Bluetooth and USB versions, Media player, FM radio and so on.

Sony Ericsson Z780 will be available both in Europe and the US (as Sony Ericsson Z780a), in two color versions: Amethyst Silver and Grand Onyx. A funny aspect about the phone is that on its official Web page, Sony Ericsson mixed up some info and the Z780 is presented as having a 128 x 160 pixels main display and a "monochrome memory" (see the snapshot at the end of the article).

Sony Ericsson G502, also known under the unofficial name of Emelie, is a good looking candybar that also brings HSDPA connectivity (but only at 2100 MHz). Furthermore, the handset packs a 2 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 256K colors, NetFront 3.4 browser, push email, Instant Messaging, Google Maps, Music and video player, 3D games, a 2 Megapixel camera with video (no flash), FM radio, Bluetooth, USB and so on. All these features are packed in a compact case that measures 109 x 46 x 13.5 millimeters and weighs 83.5 grams.

Sony Ericsson G502 will apparently be available only in Europe, in Brilliant Hazel and Champagne Black.

Martin Winkler, director of global marketing and head of multimedia web at Sony Ericsson, said about the new handsets: "These two phones are quite distinct, yet both have the potential to introduce more users to the world of web on your mobile. Being able to check your email whenever you like or surf the web when on-the-move should not just be the preserve of professionals. The Z780 and the G502 will appeal to anyone juggling a busy life".

Both Z780 and G502 will come at affordable prices (unannounced yet), which is obviously a cool thing.
