The so-called BeiBei is getting closer to a release

There's an abundance of news related to Sony Ericsson these days and the latest concerns the G702 handset, also known as Sony Ericsson BeiBei.

Details about BeiBei / G702 first surfaced in April and now the official video teaser with the phone appeared, thanks to the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog.

G702 is part of Sony Ericsson's new G-series, which also includes G502, G700 and G900. The last two phones seem to already be available, without being properly launched by the Swedish-Japanese company.

We posted earlier today two video presentations with both G700 and G900, videos that are not that different from each other, and you'll notice that the G702 video is focused on the same aspects as the other two. Well, that's not really a surprise, since all the phones are created for the same purpose: to offer mobile users Web and business capabilities.

The new G702 presentation brings nothing that we didn't know of, but it does bring the handset closer to a release. Also, it confirms the fact that the handset won't be released in the version spotted last week on the FCC website, which looks especially made for girls/women.

The specs of G702 are not fully known, but we can clearly see that the phone is pretty slim, probably having the same dimensions as the other G-series devices: around 109 x 49 x 13 millimeters. Moreover, from the info found on the FCC website, we can tell the G702 comes with the following features: a 3.2 Megapixel camera, a touchscreen display, 3G capabilities, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, Opera 9.5, email, Music and Video players, organizer and so on.

One of the weirdest things about the new G702 is its navigation pad and the keys that surround it, which seem to be forming a gamepad. But I guess Sony Ericsson made the phone this way with a purpose. We'll find out more when the handset gets to hit the market. Until then, enjoy the (short) video:
