Sony Ericsson G700, part of the new G-series line-up of handsets that the Swedish-Japanese company has released this year, will soon be available in a camera-free version. Called Sony Ericsson G700 Business Edition, the new handset is created for consumers who work in institutions or areas where the use of camera phones is prohibited.

Aside from the lack of a camera module, Sony Ericsson G700 Business Edition is similar to the original G700, hence it will offer users the same features, in the same elegant case. The single difference is that the new G700 comes in another color: "mineral gray", as opposed to "silk bronze". Bu this adds up to the overall seriousness of the phone, which is a good thing, since business users need serious-looking devices, right?

Even without the 3.2 Megapixel camera included in the original G700, the Business Edition of the handset has nice features. The phone brings tri-band GSM connectivity as well as 3G / UMTS, Symbian UIQ, a 2.4 TFT touchscreen display with 262K colors, a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and handwriting recognition, advanced organizer, Opera browser, push email, Music player, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, StickyNotes, document reader and several other useful features. The phone weighs 99 grams, measures 106 x 49 x 13 millimeters and packs a powerful battery that can keep the handset functional for up to 12 hours in talk-time mode and up to 320 hours in stand-by mode.

The Business Edition of G700 was unveiled by Sony Ericsson yesterday, at the same time as the official announcement of no less than 5 new phones: the 8.1 Megapixel C905, the Snapshot-series S302, the gaming-featured F305 and the entry-level J123 and K330 candybars.

Apparently, the cameraless G700 will be available in Asia exclusively, as it's currently listed only on Sony Ericsson's websites from Asian countries. The price of the handset was not announced, but it will most probably be a bit lower than the one of the camera-enabled G700.
