Sony Ericsson Emelie, about whose existence we first heard rumors towards the end of March, will be officially presented under the name of Sony Ericsson G502 , most probably by the end of this week. Being a G-series phone, you might think the new phone brings features similar to the other two handsets from its family (G700 and G900), like Symbian UIQ and a touchscreen display. But Emelie/G502 is, unfortunately, a mid-end mobile phone.

According to the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog, G502 will hit the market at the beginning of the summer (the latest), coming in two color versions: Champagne Black and Brilliant Hazel, which are actually normal black and normal hazel. The unofficial SE blog also comes with the first full and clear image of "Emelie", thus ending the series of leaked pics which only showed the phone's keys or User Interface.

Sony Ericsson G502 is, as expected, a candybar, designed in the same manner the Swedish-Japanese company designs most of its candybars. The phone looks good nevertheless, but it doesn't differentiate itself from molder Sony Ericsson models (like K530 for example).

The new G502 weighs 83 grams (2.92 ounces) and measures 109 x 46 x 13.5 millimeters (4.29 x 1.81 x 0.53 inches), being both slim and lightweight. The phone is 3G-enabled, providing HSDPA connectivity for fast data transfer speeds and Internet browsing, and comes with pre-installed Google Maps and Access NetFront browser, plus support for email and Exchange ActiveSync. Furthermore, G502 runs on a A2 software platform and packs a 2-inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K of colors, a 2.0 Megapixel camera (which apparently lacks auto focus), tri-band GSM connectivity with EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, USB 2.0, 32MB of internal memory and Memory Stick Micro card support.

More details about the capabilities of Emelie/G502, plus pricing info, will be revealed when Sony Ericsson officially announces the handset.
