The high-gloss Z750

Along with their new addition to the Walkman family, the W580, Sony Ericsson has also announced a phone that represents the company's debut on the North American tri-band HSDPA phone market, the Z750. The Z750 looks very much (close to exactly) like the Z610 high-gloss fashionable phone Sony Ericsson has released quite a while ago.

But while the Europeans get three color versions of it, Luster Black, Airy Blue and Rose Pink, the CDMA Z750 will only become available in two, the lady-like Rose Pink and more serious Phantom Grey. For the users that would like some of the capabilities a smartphone offers but are not ready to embrace all the advanced functionality just yet, the Z750 could be an interesting choice as it offers push email (being the first Sony Ericsson handset to do so), calendar, contacts, support for third-party Java push mail solutions and is Exchange ActiveSync-enabled.

Moreover, it offers all the entertainment features and user-friendliness a regular phone does, packing a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.2 inch screen, HSDPA broadband-speed, a media player for most file formats, FM Radio and 3D gaming capabilities. But as the manufacturer claims, the Sony Ericsson Z750 is really more about looks and fast access to the web.

'Sony Ericsson wanted to make sure our first HSDPA handset was the perfect combination of style and function. As all know, HSDPA is a big leap forward in the speed of mobile functionality, but as always, Sony Ericsson does not deliver technology for its own sake," says Miles Flint, global president of Sony Ericsson. "We believe the Z750 is such a compelling offer because not only will it be one of the best looking clamshells on the market, but it also provides the tools or applications which really let youget the most from these broadband speeds.'

The tri-band HSDPA (850/1900/2100), quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) Z750 will become available in selected markets during the third quarter of this year.
