Sony Ericsson Comes With Saawariya Special Edition Handsets

- For the Indian market

By: Florin Troaca, Communications News Editor

Sony Ericsson launches a limited edition of special Saawariya handsets, to celebrate the coming of the long-awaited movie with the same title which will have its release in November
2007, via Sony Pictures. The Saawariya promotion allows lucky buyers to participate in a special evening where they will meet all the stars from the movie. And there's more, as every Saawariya handset pack comes with a Saawariya audio CD, preloaded Saawariya ring tones and Saawariya wallpapers.

A wide range of Sony Ericsson phones will be available in the Saawariya special edition, from the low-end J110, J120 and J121 models to K220, K320, K510 and even the latest T250i.

Saawariya (which means "beloved") is a Bollywood movie to be released on 9th November 2007 by Sony Pictures, the first Indian movie that gets to be produced by a production house from Hollywood. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and having as lead roles the débutantes Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoo, the movie is based on "White Nights", the famous short novel of Fyodor Dostoevsky. Since the novel written by Dostoevsky in 1848 is about love, happiness and loss, a weird story between a dreamer and a young girl, the movie is probably dealing with the same subject. Whether it's better or not than the novel, we'll see after its release.

With the release of the Saawariya handsets, Sony Ericsson consolidates the good connection it has with the Indian audience and proves again that it is a leading mobile entertainment brand. It is not the first time when Sony Ericsson associates with Hollywood movies, as during the years the company had different initiatives connected with blockbuster movies like Star Wars or Spiderman 2 and 3.

The Sony Ericsson Saawariya special edition mobile phones are available through all the important retail outlets in India.
