In early 2011, Sony Ericsson brought to the spotlight its first handset to feature PlayStation certification, namely the Xperia PLAY, and it appears that the device has managed to conquer the heart of the crowd.

Among the appealing features that the new mobile phone came to the market with, we can count the availability of a series of games that have been optimized specifically for it, and Sony Ericsson has just announced that it celebrated the availability of 200 of them.

Featuring a 4-inch touchscreen display and PlayStation controls courtesy of a sliding gamepad, the device will provide users with a great experience when it comes to playing games while on the go.

“This has been a really exciting year for us in Sony Ericsson and for Xperia PLAY. And we are ready to celebrate,” Sony Ericsson’s Cristina Porter notes in a recent blog post.

“The PLAY team has been busy recently, announcing a lot of promotions and new games, and we are happy to tell everyone that we have now more than 200 game titles available for you to enjoy during the holidays!”

Some of the most appealing titles that users can take advantage of now include Dead Space, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, FIFA 12 and Galaxy on Fire 2. These premium titles are available for download for free during the holiday season.

In addition to this promotion, Sony Ericsson announced that Xperia PLAY users can now access a new Games blog, which should provide them with a wide range of details on various aspects of the device.

Just as the name suggests, the new blog will provide users with info on the various games that they can download, install and enjoy on the Xperia PLAY.

“Check out the new blog and the complete list of the 200 optimized titles for Xperia PLAY and start celebrating the Holidays,” Cristina Porter concludes.
