Sony Ericsson's first 8 Megapixel Cyber-shot handset, the C905, is now commercially available. The proof is not only the fact that SE has removed the “coming soon” sign from the phone's online presentation, but also an unboxing video with the slider.

In the video, the phone itself appears only for a short while, the rest of the time being dedicated to the other goodies packed by Sony Ericsson in its box.

The 8 Megapixel camera of Sony Ericsson C905 comes with auto focus, xenon flash, geotagging, smart contrast, image stabilizer, face detection and video recording. Quite impressive for a phone, even though there are several other 8 Megapixel handsets that have been released this year.

Together with the nice camera, Sony Ericsson C905 also brings quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), HSDPA, WiFi, built-in GPS, A-GPS, a 2.4-inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels, accelerometer, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, Music and Video players, TV out, 160MB of internal memory and a 2GB M2 card, replaceable with an 8GB one.

Sony Ericsson C905 should soon go on sale across all Europe, in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The handset has an American version too (C905a) and a Chinese one (C905c), so it will be available about everywhere in the world. The phone's retail price is set at around $800, depending on where you buy it from.

C905 aside, there are other new Sony Ericsson handsets that have started shipping these days. Among them, we must mention the Windows Mobile 6.1 Xperia X1 flagship smartphone, the 5 Megapixel W902 Walkman candybar, the T700, W595, W302 and J132. So, it looks like Sony Ericsson is bent on flooding the market with its phones this fall. Which is a good thing, since more devices obviously means more choices for us.

Until you get the chance to buy any of the new Sony Ericsson handsets, here is the promised unboxing video with the C905:

If you look carefully at the unboxing video, you'll notice that it's not "me" who has the phone.

Since SE has now started shipping units of C905 across Europe, you should be able to buy it in Spain in the next few weeks, 'though I can't help you with an exact location from where to pick up the phone. Major mobile retail stores will probably have it.

As for the price, it should be around 500 – 550 Euros, taxes and subsidies aside.

Good luck.

Why would you put UMTS900 on the American version C905a, when America is the only part of the world where UMTS900 is not going to be used!
