High-end mobile devices are not the only ones that get to be cloned - mid-end handsets can benefit from the same treatment and the latest example is
Sony Ericsson C702, which now has a Chinese illegitimate brother, named SE-702.
Theoretically, the SE-702 seems to be quite a nice phone that can easily compete with the original C702 Cyber-shot, as its features include: dual SIM technology, mobile TV capabilities (an external antenna is packed for this purpose), a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with handwriting recognition and 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, quad-band GSM connectivity, Music player, Bluetooth, dual speakers, electronic dictionary, expandable memory, a "power-efficient chip" for a better battery lifetim, and support for lots of languages, including: Chinese, English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Bulgarian, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai and Arabic.
The dimensions of SE-702 are not known, but the handset seems a bit bulkier than the original C702 (which measures 106 x 48 x 15.5 millimeters).
If the real C702 had packed a 3 inch touchscreen display, it would have really been a nice handset. Still, even with its 2.2 inch non-touchscreen display, the C702 has all the chances to be better than the SE-702, not only due to its Cyber-shot photo camera and the internal GPS, but because it's made by Sony Ericsson.
And speaking of "made by", the SE-702 is manufactured by the China-based Seanee Electronic. The company's motto is "Better than the best", and its products include lots of other handsets, watch phones and MP3 players. Most of them are, like the SE-702, not at all original when it comes to design.
The retail price of SE-702 is not known, but it's surely below the one of Sony Ericsson (around $450 or 290 Euros).
