India, the second largest mobile market in the world, might be the first country besides Japan to get Sony Ericsson Bravia mobile phones. The upcoming availability of Bravia-branded handsets for Indian consumers has recently been unveiled by the new president of Sony Ericsson India, Mr. Anil Sethi, appointed in this function at the beginning of August.

According to NDTV, when talking about the availability of Sony Ericsson Bravia phones in Japan, Mr. Sethi said that, in time, the Braivia brand would be used for the Indian SE handsets, too.

Of course, for the moment, there are no details about which Bravia phones will be released in India, but mobile users should expect them to be very nice devices anyway. We say this because all the Bravia-branded phones released in Japan have lots of advanced features and none of them can be considered a low-end handset.

Bravia is the LCD/TV brand of Sony, the Japanese company that formed Sony Ericsson together with the German-based Ericsson AB. In the world of TVs, Bravia stands for high-quality images; hence, the handsets that came out in Japan under this brand have high-end displays that make them suitable for watching mobile TV transmissions. Knowing this, it's natural to think that Sony Ericsson might want to make mobile TV popular across India with its future handsets.

After announcing the upcoming release of the (unnamed yet) Bravia phones, Mr. Sethi also said that the Indian production facility of Sony Ericsson should be soon able to produce about 10 million handsets per year. Most of these will be entry-level ones, hence the Indian Bravia devices will probably be manufactured in Japan, where the existing ones are made, and then sent to India.

All in all, seeing that Sony Ericsson is finally preparing to roll out Bravia phones outside Japan, we can hope that the joint-venture also plans to release such handsets across Europe and America, too.
