Sony Ericsson BeiBei, seen until now only in leaked and unofficial photos, is finally fully unveiled, thanks to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), which recently approved the handset and published several new details about it.

The official name of BeiBei is Sony Ericsson G702, hence it's from the same family with G700, G900 and the so-called "Emelie", which is in fact Sony Ericsson G502. Since the G-series is created by Sony Ericsson to answer the Web and Multimedia needs of mobile users, we know now what kind of handset BeiBei is.

Although the full list of specs packed in the G702 is not available, we know for sure that the phone brings pretty nice features. The User Manual posted by FCC says that the handset comes with a touchscreen display, Symbian UIQ, GPS, pre-loaded maps, Wayfinder Navigator, Wi-Fi, advanced Web browser with Adobe Flash Lite 3 and panning/zooming features (this really seems to be Opera 9.5), a 3.2 Megapixel camera with zoom, mobile blogging capabilities, email, advanced multimedia features, organizer, a weird but probably easy-to-use keypad and 3G connectivity (only in the 2100 MHz frequency, apparently, so the US won't get this phone).

An interesting aspect about the new Sony Ericsson handset is its case. The model tested by FCC has a floral pattern on it as well as red and girly margins. For the moment, we can't say if this is how all the G702 phones will look like, but if that's the case, then we won't be seeing too many men wanting to own the phone. Anyway, since in the previously leaked images the device looked "normal", with no patterns and no girly margins, we can hope that there will actually be several versions of the official G702, for both men and women.

There are no details yet about when the BeiBei / G702 will be officially launched, but it can't be too far from now. The phone will be available at least in Europe and China (as G702c), so let's wait and see exactly when this will happen.
