Future Sony Ericsson smartphone

A new Sony Ericsson handset was unveiled these days, besides Emelie / G502, and that is Sony Ericsson BeiBei (also known as Bei Bei or Bei-Bei - this is the phone's unofficial naming, so it doesn't matter anyway).

Spotted in live pics on Yesky, a Chinese electronics website, Sony Ericsson BeiBei is a candybar that apparently packs lots of high-end features. Although the available images of the phone don't look too great, at least when we talk about the keypad, the new and mysterious Sony Ericsson seems to be one of the Swedish-Japanese company's future flagship smartphones.

Sony Ericsson BeiBei is running on Symbian UIQ 3.3, the latest version, and it apparently comes with a touchscreen display (the screen seems a bit small though). Since it is powered by UIQ 3.3, the handset will bring, among other nice features, Opera Mobile 9.5 and Opera Widgets. Also, from other leaked images that show the handset's interface, we can see that BeiBei features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a photo camera. Rumors say the camera will be a 3.2 Megapixel one (auto focus included), but we have to wait for this to be confirmed through an official presentation of the phone.

Other features that the new smartphone could come with include 3G (this is actually an almost certain detail) and GPS. Together with what looks to be a quite slim case, all the above mentioned features can make Sony Ericsson BeiBei a handset that many mobile users will want to own.

Judging by its look, the yet unannounced BeiBei could be a new device from the G-series, like the G502 model - but more evolved, since G502 is only a mid-end phone. Anyway, knowing that Sony Ericsson will (apparently) officially present G502 this week, we can hope BeiBei will also get a real name and a complete list of specs soon.
