Sony Ericsson announced this week that it has signed partnerships with AXN, the Sony Pictures Television’s cable and satellite network, and NK, Poland’s most popular social network. The announcement came immediatley after the visit that Bert Nordberg, Sony Ericsson President & CEO took in Warsaw, Poland

The new partnership with AXN will enable Sony Ericsson fans to watch series such as Damages and Rescue Me, as well as AXN own programmes including Splash and AXN Zoom, on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, and X8 handsets through AXN Player application.

Besides the above mentioned movie series, the AXN Player will also enable mobile phone users to access AXN news, blogs entries, AXN’s TV schedules, but will also give them the opportunity to set up alerts to remind them when their favourite shows start on TV.

Bert Nordberg, President & CEO, Sony Ericsson says, “Our global strategy has returned us to profitability and after successful launch of Xperia X10 and the launch of X10 mini and X10 mini pro we are getting back on track.”

“Poland is an important market for Sony Ericsson and we are committed to maintaining our position and bringing the latest Communications Entertainment technology to the Polish market. Our collaborations with AXN and NK certainly reinforces this commitment,” added Nordberg.

The long-term partnership signed with NK will see that the NK application will be included in the Xperia range.

Tthe partnership follows the original collaboration which saw the announcement of the NK plug-in integration to the X10 mini, which allows users to communicate with their friends on NK via handsets.

At the moment, there are three Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones available on the Polish market, X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro. Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is about to hit the shelves soon also.
