New Walkman clamshell

After the surprising unveiling of C905, Sony Ericsson's first 8 Megapixel handset, another new phone from the Swedish-Japanese company was spotted today. The official name of this one is not known, but its codename is Sony Ericsson Alicia. We don't know why exactly Alicia, but it's not like it is the first time when a Sony Ericsson handset gets a girly codename (see Emelie, for example).

Unlike the C905, which is a slider from the Cyber-shot series, Sony Ericsson Alicia is a clamshell from the Walkman family. The handset resembles the W980, which should be released by Sony Ericsson any time soon. The differences between the design of Alicia and the one of W980 can be observed if you look at the front cases of the phones as well as at their keypads. But aside from these details, the two phones are quite alike.

In terms of features, there are not too many details about the new Alicia. It could have features similar to the ones of W980 (big internal memory, HSDPA connectivity, a 3 Megapixel camera and so on), but at the same time it could be pretty different from the W980. Anyway, since the Walkman logo can be seen on the case of Alicia, the phone will surely come with Walkman player, TrackID, FM radio and other nice music features.

According to the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog, the new Alicia will come with various animations that appear on the external (and hidden) screen of the handset. These animations can show either music-related information or weather reports. Moreover, Alicia will have a set of themes that automatically change during the day, so that, while you can have one specific theme in the morning, in the evening another one is displayed.

We hope Sony Ericsson will unveil its new Alicia phone next week, on June 17, when the C905 is also said to be officially announced.
