Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson announced a while back the launch of a series of new entertainment-oriented mobile phones, among which we had the chance to spot the Sony Ericsson Aino. The said device might be gearing up for a release stateside, it seems, as it has just passed through FCC's hallways, though nothing has gone official just yet.

The Sony Ericsson Aino has been approved by FCC for use in the US on the GSM 850/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 bands, which suggests that the handheld might become available on AT&T's airwaves in the near future. This multimedia handset includes a 3-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 240 x 432 pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel photo snapper, an alphanumeric keypad, GPS receiver, Wi-Fi connectivity and many more.

One of the main features the fresh mobile phone comes to the market with is connectivity with Sony's PlayStations. The device is not a proper PlayStation handset yet, but comes with PS3 Remote Play features and can allow for media playback, browsing the PlayStation Store, and PSN chat. The phone connects to the PlayStation via the Internet, and no game playing is included in the offer just yet. Even so, Engadget notes that this functionality might get included into the equation in the near future.

One way or the other, more details on the gaming capabilities of the Sony Ericsson Aino will certainly be unveiled as soon as the phone comes to the market. And that might not happen in the far future, it seems, but as soon as October, at least when it comes to the UK market. As for the US users, there are no specific details on when the phone will come to them, though it shouldn't be too long either. Stay tuned to learn more details on the handset's availability and functionality.
