Motorola's RAZR will have serious competition, when Sony Ericsson launches their new project, an ultra-slim walkman mobile.

Samsung has already launched a line of slim phones in the summer and now apparently it is Sony-Ericsson's turn. According to a Reuters report, Sony Ericsson, the world's fourth-largest handset maker plans to launch the candy bar-shaped phone, dubbed "Ai" (after Japanese tennis player Ai Sugiyama), in early 2007 . "Ai" is supposed to be only 9.4 mm thick, therefore much slimmer than Motorola's RAZR (14 mm). It is expected to be launched in black and silver, and will probably include features such as a memory card slot, a high-end camera and the sound quality that made Sony-Ericsson's walkman phones so popular. It is also rumored to have new walkman software that allows over the air downloads.

Although no official announcement on the phone's existence has been made, unconfirmed rumors about "Ai" have been circulating around the net.
