Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has just announced the launch of a new device aimed at the Chinese market, the Sony Ericsson A8i, which includes support for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network.

According to the company, this is its first smartphone to include support for TD-SCDMA technology, while being powered by the carrier's OMS 2.0 mobile platform.

The new mobile phone comes to the market with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and packs CMMB mobile TV functionality, being able to deliver amazing high-definition visual effects.

The features list of this device includes: - High-speed, easy-to-use OMS 2.0 smartphne platform which is fully supported by China Mobile’s entertainment services and applications - Support both TD-SCDMA 3G networks and WLAN connections - Stylish design featuring the human curvature design concept - Features Sony Ericsson signature entertainment applications such as TrackID, linked directly with China Mobile’s music download service

The handset comes to the market with a stylish form factor, packing a human curvature design concept that can be seen across the Sony Ericsson portfolio.

Moreover, it comes with a series of signature applications pre-loaded, including TrackID, which was linked China Mobile’s entertainment download service.

The new device also comes with a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), Microsoft Exchange Active-Sync, MMS and SMS, FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack, aGPS and Micro USB connectivity.

It packs 200 MB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Measuring 117 x 59 x 14 mm and weighing in at 136 grams, the phone packs a battery able to deliver up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 260 hours of standby time on GSM (7 hours and 30 min / 260 hours on TD-SCDMA).

The new Sony Ericsson A8i should be released on select markets in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year.
