The company will look into bringing more PS3 games to the PS4 "when it makes sense"

The Last of Us Remastered might be at the top of the PlayStation Store’s best-selling charts, as well as at the top of the NPD’s July top-selling video games list, but Sony apparently doesn’t intend to make a habit out of bringing popular PS3 games to the PS4.

“You can't have too many of these things otherwise next-gen just looks like rehashed last-gen and we certainly don't want that.”

“I think the balance is just about right but you know, there are other games that could be looked at, but there'll come a point where next gen will have moved on and rehashing old-gen will have passed its sell-by date,” PlayStation Europe executive Jim Ryan told CVG in an interview.

He explained that bringing The Last of Us to the PlayStation 4 made a lot of sense from multiple points of view, as the game came out very close to the PS4’s launch, and earned a lot of accolades from both critics and players.

Furthermore, it was also the first opportunity for people who came from competing platforms to try out one of the PlayStation 3’s greatest games, and so Sony intends to look into bringing more PS3 games to the PlayStation 4 “when it makes sense,” so don’t expect to see many more games making the jump.
