Video game publisher and hardware developer Sony has said that there are no plans to create a new peripheral linked to the PlayStation Move motion tracking system that will be used with the upcoming BioShock Infinite action adventure game from Irrational Games.

The rumor first appeared in the PlayStation magazine in the United Kingdom and was quickly picked up by a number of other outlets.

A representative of Sony said nothing new linked to move is “being made” and that the rumor was a fabrication.

Ken Levine, who is the leader of Irrational, initially dismissed both Kinect from Microsoft and Move from Sony as being pure gimmicks that added little to the gameplay of new titles but since then the developer has changed his stance and showed how BioShock Infinite supports Move at the Sony E3 2011 event.

Infinite is set to be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 during 2012.
