The smartphone might arrive as a refreshed Xperia Z1

One of the mobile phones that Sony Mobile has been rumored lately to plan on making official in the not too distant future is the Sony D6503, which appears to have leaked online in a nice set of live photos.

The handset was spotted in the AnTuTu Benchmark Database with a score of 29,745 points not long ago, which suggested that it would be launched as a new high-end device from the company.

The newly leaked images with the smartphone, available courtesy of XDA-Developers Forum user iRimas, show that it will sport about the same design as the Xperia Z1 before it.

Unfortunately, the phone’s model number is nowhere to be seen in these photos, but said users claim that it is indeed the Sony D6503.

However, Sony appears to have made a series of modifications to the device’s looks, with a number of small changes to the frame. The Sony logo on the front of the device, however, is placed similarly as on the Xperia Z1.

The leaked photos also show that the smartphone will arrive with a full flap cover over the SIM card slot and the USB port (Xoperia Z1 has separate ones), along with magnetic charging pins, as XperiaGuide notes.

On the right side, the handset will sport the MicroSD memory card slot, along with the power and volume buttons. The speaker and microphone can be seen at the bottom of the device, while there is a second microphone at the top, alongside a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The back plate of the mobile phone also shows that the handset will land on shelves with G Lens, the same as the Xperia Z1 before it. Unfortunately, no specific info on the size of the camera sensor has been provided.

All in all, it appears that Sony D6503 will indeed arrive on the market as a modified version of Sony’s current flagship smartphone, though it remains to be seen whether it will be released as the long-rumored Xperia Z2 or simply as a refreshed Xperia Z1.
