The handset might be launched at T-Mobile, as previously rumored

Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile will soon make the Xperia Z smartphone available for purchase in the United States through a wireless carrier in the country, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai confirmed yesterday.

Speaking at the D11 conference, he said that the phone would be launched at the operator in the coming weeks, but did not offer further details on the matter, AllThingsD reports.

Previous rumors suggested that the flagship smartphone would be launched through T-Mobile in the United States, as the device was even spotted at the FCC with support for Magenta’s network packed inside.

Furthermore, a series of leaked photos with the handset showed T-Mobile’s branding on its front, which further suggests that this is Sony’s carrier of choice for the launch of Xperia Z stateside, TmoNews reports. Stay tuned for more on this.
