Sony Xperia U received its promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update about a month ago and owners were very happy that their devices now run a newer version of Google's operating system.

However, it looks like Sony plans to deploy a Jelly Bean update for the Xperia U as well. The guys over at Techkiddy have just learned via Sony Mobile Italy that the Japanese handset maker will launch an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade for Xperia U.

Although there are no details on release date, Sony's decision to offer a Jelly Bean upgrade to Xperia U owners is great if it proves to be true.

For the time being, these are all the information we have but Sony will probably offer more details closeer to Jelly Bean launch, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
