Video game publisher Sony has confirmed that it plans to launch Phantasy Star Online 2 on the new PlayStation Vita handheld at some point during 2013, although it is not clear whether the game will offer the same content as the PC version which is set to arrive during this year.

The game is being developed by the Sonic Team at SEGA and will use traditional action and role-playing mechanics, although no detail has been offered on the story or the characters.

SEGA says that players will have the same character in both games and that it plans for game servers to be shared.

Keiji Inafune, who is the creator of Mega Man, has also confirmed that he has plans to launch a game on the PlayStation Vita.

Sony also announced something called Discovery Project, which will be created in collaboration with Kadokawa Games and will include user-generated content.
