Japanese handset maker Sony Mobile has just confirmed that it will unveil more details on the Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia S in mid-December.

In addition, the company has stated that more info on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrades for 2012 Sony Xperia smartphone will be available in about two weeks as well.

The information comes via Sony Mobile New Twitter account, and also advises Xperia smartphone users to keep an eye out on Sony’s blog site for more details, starting mid-December.

Sony has already confirmed that all 2012 Xperia smartphones will receive a Jelly Bean update in the following months, but no exact release dates have been announced yet.

We reported over the weekend that Sony Mobile Italy announced on its official Facebook page that Xperia U would receive the hotly anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade very soon.

The Xperia S is also expected to get the said update, though we’re still waiting for Sony’s official word on the release of Jelly Bean.

Given the latest statement coming from Sony Mobile, we hope that the handset maker will bring more details on these anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates.

Keep in mind that Sony has confirmed that there won’t be any official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for 2011 Xperia smartphones released, so those who still own one of these devices might as well upgrade to newer models or turn to the community for unofficial support.

In the same piece of news, Sony Mobile has announced that its latest Xperia T and Xperia V smartphones will receive their Jelly Bean updates by mid-Q1, 2013.

That’s a bit later than we had expected, but at least Sony is quicker on delivering these updates than other companies, such as LG, for example. We will keep an eye out for this one, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
