The update hasn't received a release timeframe yet

Although Sony previously hinted at Android 5.0 Lollipop for a few non-Xperia Z smartphones, the Japanese company did not confirm that the update would arrive on these particular devices.

Communication does not seem to be among Sony's strengths, as the company announced several weeks ago that it would not provide the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update to non-Xperia Z smartphones.

A few days later, the handset maker backtracked on its initial statement and said that it could not comment on the matter anymore.

This gave us reasons to believe that Sony is taking at least some of the non-Xperia Z smartphones launched more recently into consideration for Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Then a new Lollipop firmware for Xperia C2 and Xperia T2 Ultra appeared earlier this month at Bluetooth SIG, which made us believe that Sony would indeed offer the Lollipop update to these two smartphones as well.

Lollipop rollout for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact continues

Sony has already started the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Xperia Z3, but the update was only released in a few countries.

Today, however, the Japanese company confirms it is continuing its Android 5.0 Lollipop deployment to Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

In addition, Sony announces that Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 are both eligible for Android 5.0 Lollipop, so they will be upgraded in the coming months:

“We’re also pretty excited to confirm that Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will also receive Lollipop… stay tuned, as we’ll be sharing more on timings soon.”

So, as you can see, there's no timeframe for the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, but we will keep an eye out for any additional info on the matter so stay tuned for more.
