One of the many handset maker that has yet to announce plans for Android 4.4 KitKat updates, Sony Mobile recently confirmed more information will arrive this week.

The company tweeted shortly after Google officially unveiled the Nexus 5 smartphone and the Android 4.4 KitKat platform, and said that news on Android 4.3 and 4.4 updates for its products will soon be available: “we’re excited – next week our news on: 4.3, 4.4; products & more...”

There has been much talk around the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which has yet to arrive on many mid- and high-end devices launched by Sony this year.

However, we can expect the Japanese handset maker to skip the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for at least a handful of more powerful smartphone that will be upgraded straight to Android 4.4 KitKat. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
