Android mobile phone users now have the possibility to enjoy a new music service on their devices, with the launch of Sony's subscription-based Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity service for Google's mobile OS.

The company has made available for download via the Android Market an application that offers fast access to the service, providing music on the go to a series of supported Android devices.

The Music Unlimited service was launched in Europe in December last year, and arrived in the United States as well in January this year, and in Australia and New Zealand in February. It includes songs and albums coming from a wide range of leading labels.

“The cloud-based, digital music service gives music lovers streaming, commercial-free access at anytime and anywhere to an ever expanding catalogue of currently over seven million licensed tracks,” Sony notes in a recent blog post.

The company also explains that these songs come “from major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music as well as leading independent labels and major publishers worldwide.”

The aforementioned application, available now via the Android Market, is compatible with Sony Ericsson devices like Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia X10, Xperia X8, Xperia neo.

However, the company noted that the software can be installed on Android handsets from third-party makers as well, and that it is compatible with devices running under Android 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3.3.

The application comes with a 30-day free trial, offering full access to the said over seven million songs available through the service.

As soon as the trial period is over, users will have to pay $3.99 or $9.99 per month for enjoying either the basic service offering, or the full-featured one.

To benefit from this services, users will also have to create a Qriocity account, provided that they do not have one already.
