Sony Online Entertainment has announced a host of events set to be introduced in MMOs like the Everquest pair, Legends of Norrath, Star Wars Galaxies and Free Realms as Halloween approaches.

The biggest events should take place in Free Realms, the free-to-play MMO that Sony launched this year. The Super Spooktaculer update for the title is set to offer decorations for all game areas, 14 new quests for players to try out, two fresh Quest Packs filled with card games and mini games related to mummies. There are 35 new costumes that can be bought and used by players and by their pets, among them chicken and witch costumes.

Andy Sites, who is a senior producer at Sony Online Entertainment, said that “We are celebrating the first Halloween in Free Realms, with weeks of spooky activities and festive live events. After a night of trick-or-treating the fun doesn’t have to end. Dressed as a chicken, mummy, witch or any of the other crazy costumes available, kids can explore virtual neighborhoods with millions of friends from the safety of their own home.”

In EverQuest, players should get Harvester's Haunt as an event going from October 24 to November 7. They will be able to reach Edmund Strengeways, a gravedigger who can give out spooky quests related to vampires and necromancers. In EverQuest II, the Halloween event will be Nights of the Dead, introducing a Haunted Hedgemze but also some decorations and new quests, all set to finish on November 9.

In Star Wars: Galaxies, gamers will be able to enjoy the Galactic Moon Festival, which begins on October 20 and should allow gamers to embark on shuttle flights to Moenia and Mos Eisley to get the full experience. There are a variety of costumes to choose from, including a Burning Ewok one.
