Last month, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially unveiled to the world a new flagship Android-based device, in the form of Xperia Z2, and it seems that the handset will be available for purchase in Germany for a bit more than initially expected.

To be more precise, the phone is currently listed on the vendor’s website in the country with a price tag of €679 ($940) attached to it, despite the fact that it was priced at only €599 ($829) several days ago, as GSMArena notes.

No specific info on what determined Sony to make such a move has been provided as of now, but chances are that this might have something to do with the fact that Xperia Z2 is expected to see shortages when it arrives on shelves next month.

The mobile phone maker has already confirmed that it has some issues securing a larger stock of the device and that there will be limitations when it comes to its availability.

Sony is set to launch the Xperia Z2 around the world in early April, just before Samsung’s Galaxy S5 handset arrives on the market, on April 11.

In addition to bumping the device’s price, Sony Germany has also removed the previously available bundle for it, which included a free Smart Band.

The move comes as a big surprise, since the flagship handset looks much less appealing than it did before, which will certainly hurt sales.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Xperia Z2 was made official with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

The mobile phone also packs a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Moreover, it sports a microSD memory card slot that will allow users to add additional storage space to it.

On the back, Xperia Z2 features a 20.7-megapixel camera capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, touted as one of the best smartphone cameras out there.

The mobile phone was unveiled with the usual set of connectivity capabilities inside, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver, as well as with the entire set of sensors.

Moreover, Sony launched it with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top, paired with its own set of exclusive applications and features, so as to deliver a unique experience to all of its users.

Sony Xperia Z2 will be released in other markets around the world as well next month, and it remains to be seen whether price changes will be operated in more of them.
