The update is meant to improve stability of system software

Less than a week ago, Sony launched its next-generation console, the PlayStation 4, and it has already released one major software update.

Software update 1.50 for PlayStation 4 was blamed for numerous problems by various game developers, but most of them backtracked and Sony's launch-day update is still considered a viable one.

However, the Japanese company has just announced that a new software update will be released soon. The information has just been published on PlayStation Blog (US), along with the confirmation that the update will hit PlayStation 4 later today.

The next system software update 1.51 for PlayStation 4 is meant to bring some stability improvements, as well as some minor refinements to elements of the system UI, such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time, and more.

Given the fact that the console has only been released in North America, the update will be automatically downloaded in the US and Canada when the PlayStation 4 is in stand-by mode. Let's hope it won't brick it.
