A new flavor of the Sony Album application is now available for download for the owners of Xperia devices out there, namely version 6.1.A.0.14, with a nice set of enhancements packed inside.

The updated version of the mobile application brings PlayMemories Online Support for videos, which means that users will be able to manually search for, play and download videos.

As XperiaBlog notes, the app now also comes with a PlayMemories Online All Sync feature, which was designed to allow users to automatically sync their photos and videos to the cloud.

Owners of Xperia devices will also enjoy unlimited cloud storage through this feature, though it appears that there are some caveats that they need to be taking into consideration, such as the fact that only compressed versions of their photos and videos are being stored in the cloud.

After updating the Album app, users will be provided with the possibility to download the full-resolution version of a specific image, but they won’t have the possibility to automatically upload all of the original photos they have snapped, so they will need to select each of them manually.

The new app iteration is also said to arrive with a more vivacious main view, which will have the animations and videos displayed at the top. Various bug fixes and performance improvements have also been included in the new release, it seems.

Moreover, following the update, users will also see that Sony has put Collections inside the main menu, and they will be able to access it by swiping right, while having the possibility to create a collection by pressing on the + sign when viewing a picture.

Some visual changes have also been spotted in the new version of Sony Album app, including one affecting the Settings screen, which sports a dark background now. In the previous iteration of the app, the background was light.

The new Sony Album 6.1.A.0.14 application release is already being delivered to Xperia devices out there, and users should receive a notification on their smartphones as soon as it is available for them.

However, the rollout will certainly be made in stages, which means that some users might have to wait several days before it arrives on their smartphones.

However, the .APK file for the updated app version has been already made available online, and users can download and install it manually, provided that they do not want to wait for the official update to be delivered to them.
