The online service isn't handling the strain of all the new PS4 owners

Sony has acknowledged that PS4 owners are encountering issues when trying to connect to the PlayStation Network via their next-gen console and has asked for patience until the high demand passes.

Update: The error message has been removed and apparently no more errors are encountered by PS4 users.

The PS4 launched today in North America and, as you can imagine, the many fans who waited until midnight to buy their device were quite eager to take it online and download the system software update 1.50 so that they can play some games with their new console.

Unfortunately, as we reported a few hours ago, the PlayStation Network online services isn't capable of handling this big demand and different errors with codenames like E-80E80034 and NW-31453-6.

Sony has updated its Support page to warn fans about the ongoing problems with the PSN, confirming that it's "currently experiencing extremely high volume" so some games may have problems connecting.

Sony doesn't offer a solution, as it just asks PS4 owners to be patient until the high demand passes.
