Company might renew the trademark or abandon the entire game

For unknown reasons video game publisher Sony seems to have abandoned the trademark that was protecting the commercial use of The Last Guardian, the name of the video game that Team ICO has been working on for some time.

The trademark at the moment is listed as Abandoned – No Statement Of Use Filed, which could mean that anyone interested could register it and take it away from Sony.

Sony might have simply forgotten to renew its trademark and the company might have decided to use another game for the Team ICO project.

There’s also the possibility that the game was finally cancelled after a long period of development trouble, despite the fact that developers have repeatedly said that they plan to show more in the coming months.

The Last Guardian was supposed to tell a story which involves a young kid and a creature that looked similar to a griffon as they explore an abandoned castle.
