Rumors of Sony’s A77 successor, dubbed the A77II have been making rounds for a while now. The most recent information claimed the new Sony camera has been pegged for a May unveiling, but we didn't have the exact date on that.

Now the ever-watchful SonyAlphaRumors claims the Sony A7II will be coming our way on May 1. But that’s not all, alongside the new device, Sony also has another “big announcement” in stores for us, so we should be expecting a few big surprises.

There’s not much information about the A77II, except the fact that the camera is expected to come with an AF system faster than the A6000 (which is reportedly the world’s fastest at this point).

Anyway, earlier last month it was revealed the current A77 has been marked as “Sold out” in the official Sony UK, Sony Germany, Sony France, Sony Italia and Sony Spain.

The disappearance of the Sony A77 can also mean one thing. Most likely, the rumors are correct and Sony is prepping to launch the A77II alongside other goodies. During the same launch event, the company is also expected to pull the veil off new A and E mount lenses.

So, mark the 1 May date in your calendar, in order to see the big surprises Sony is preparing for us.
