Sony has confirmed that, according to its own PlayStation Network data, there are a lot of PlayStation 4 owners that have yet to experience The Last of Us, which means that the upcoming Remastered edition is great news for them.

The Last of Us appeared last summer for the PS3 and delivered one of the best experiences seen by the last-gen platform. As such, quite a few Sony fans thought that the company just wanted to charge them once again with The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4.

However, according to Sony's Josh Walker who talked with MCV, the new re-release is great news for the many PS4 owners who didn't even get to play The Last of Us on PS3.

"The Last of Us is considered one of the most significant titles of the last console generation, winning countless awards. It would be almost unfair for all our new fans to never play a game like this. We’ve looked at PSN data and can see a huge proportion of PS4 players haven’t experienced The Last of Us yet," he said.

"This is quite indicative of the shift in the market and the many players who have migrated from competitive platforms that we’re glad to welcome to PlayStation."

As such, it seems that plenty of PS4 owners want a chance to play older games in all their glory on the new console.
