Photokina might have come to an end leaving a big void in the hearts of all photo fans, but the rumor mill is wasting no time in providing us with fresh insider info for us to cling on to until the next big launch.

The prolific Sony Alpha Rumors is claiming that Sony has plans of releasing two new big-mega pixels cameras in 2015. One of them will take advantage of a 46MP sensor, while the second one will boost things up to an impressive 54MP.

Sony didn't go too crazy at Photokina, launching and previewing just a bunch of products, but fans had expected a lot more out of the photo giant, a lot more. It appears Sony is saving off the real goodness for a later date in 2015.

According to word on the street, Sony promises the A-mount saga will not come to an end, as two new shooters will become official in the next six months.

The rumors don’t give us the names of the products, but they will pertain to the big-megapixel category as you can already see.

Sony 46MP camera will arrive first

Canon is also rumored to go down the same path and the product is expected to make a debut on the market somewhere around October 2015. As for Sony, the company is expected to launch the 46-megapixel shooter as soon as January 2015, so if we’re lucky we might end up seeing it at CES 2015.

We don’t have any other information related to it, except it’s a full frame. Given what Sony unveiled at Photokina 2014, another FE-mount shooter is unlikely to be making an appearance, so it makes sense to assume the 46-megapixel device is actually part of a the A-mount family.

We could even go as far as to speculate that the new Sony could serve as a replacement of the A99.

Sony 54MP camera will make it out in February

The second Sony big-megapixel camera is the more impressive of the duo and should employ a 54MP full frame sensor. It could also prove to be a successor of the flagship A-mount camera, the A99.

According to buzz in the rumor mill, we should see this model arrive after the 46-megapixel one makes an entry on the market, but it could turn out to be the other way around. Who knows, at this point we can only speculate.

The 54MP camera will be launched with a new autofocus system with 2,460 focus points, which will take over 78% of the frame.

The current info floating around is that the second shooter will become available in February, but it’s too early to tell if this is really the case or not.
