Sony recently unveiled a rather interesting looking machine, the JS1 all-in-one. Basically, this piece of equipment is a 25-inch panel that packs, behind the X-Black 20.1" 1680x1050 display, all the features of a powerful PC, including a 500GB storage solution, 3GB of memory, an Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD.

Above all, this machine takes up considerably less space than a desktop PC and even than a notebook, due to a separate wireless keyboard Sony provides for the system, which can be slotted underneath the unit when not used.

The JS1 all-in-one also comes with a DVD writer, integrated camera and Wi–Fi, while audio is enabled through Dolby-based virtual surround sound. SA-CD music can be recorded, edited and played back via Sony’s integrated Sound Reality chip. The only thing that this system lacks in order to become a real multimedia killer is an optional Blu-ray integration. Even so, the company bundles VAIO Movie Story and VAIO Music box slideshow and playlist managers with the new machine, making it more than attractive.

Despite the small footprint the Sony VAIO JS1 all-in-one leaves on the desk, a lot of raw power is hidden behind the fancy look. The adventurous design of the machine is complemented by the large screen, which is ideal for photo editing, offering a great amount of working space. Besides video enhancements, the VAIO JS1 series offers plenty audio features to make it a great multimedia fit system. The Dolby Home Theatre technology and Sony’s Sound Reality signal processor chip built into the system are meant to provide impressive virtual surround sound effects audiophiles will enjoy to the maximum.

The VAIO JS1 all-in-one comes with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium as the operating system, along with a series of software suites offered by the company for out of the box usage. Sony included the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Adobe Premiere Elements 4 within the software package the machine comes with, allowing for fast and easy photo and video editing, while the VAIO Movie Story and VAIO Music box enable easy, largely automated slideshow and playlist creation.

The company hasn’t disclosed any pricing details for the new 25-inch system until now, yet it announced the availability of a 20-inch model that will be priced at $1,240.
