Sony's New Killzone-Not Killzone2

Why it wasn't called Killzone 2 or Killzone something, we don't know at the moment, but it clearly wasn't anything anyone had seen before. 1UP was there and saw the whole footage of the new PS2 exclusive. They say that visuals weren't that impressive, almost intentionally made to look
that way perhaps, mainly showing a shower bullets ripping through warehouses and other objects.

Killzone received a great deal of hype in June 2003 when video game websites began releasing previews and rumors about the game. Most fans of Sony's PS2 had been waiting for a game to top Microsoft's Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo was a tremendous success, and was the best-selling Xbox game at the time, which led to PlayStation fans dubbing Killzone the "Halo Killer". Upon the game's release however, many reviewers and gamers thought that the final result proved ultimately underwhelming with serious frame rate problems, jumpy controls, and numerous glitches.

It wasn't exactly obvious what was in-game and what wasn't, but the first-person perspective movement and gameplay did tip the game off a little. Sony's worldwide president Phil Harrison earlier said in an interview that this year's GDC would bring stuff to make PlayStation fans happy. The man kept his promise and maybe Sony will keep its promise in making a worthy rival for the Xbox 360's Halo series.
