Online services are some of the most important features for any video game console out there, as people want to go online and interact with friends in order to play video games or just discuss ordinary things.

While there are certainly a lot of services out there, Sony's PlayStation Home is definitely one of the most interesting, promising a rich virtual world where people can interact with others and create their own personal experience.

We've seen a lot of spaces and content go live for the online service, but now Sony has announced that this week's update to Home will be a very big one. First of all, SOCOM fans will be happy to hear that the first of two dedicated spaces, the Tactical Operations Center, will go live shortly, with the second one, the OPFOR, in the following weeks. The TOC will be the place where people can interact and plot the next course of action with their friends by gathering around the Telestrator tool. This special feature allows users to collaborate and find the best strategies in order to be victorious.

Also, in order for players to be more aware of how their opponents are doing, data from the SOCOM website pertaining to the leaderboards will be shown, as in the picture above, which will showcase Career stats. And, since no Home space will be complete without trying to sell you something, a slew of SOCOM-related virtual items will be available in order to decorate your avatar with a military look.

Ghostbusters fans will also be quite happy with the Home update as a personal space like the Ghostbusters Firehouse will be available for purchase. You will find a 3-floor building packed with furniture and assorted decorations at no extra charge, including an Ecto-1 car. But be careful with the basement, as some ghost containment units may have sprung a leak so ezoterical encounters might be possible.

Electronic Arts isn't spending time carelessly, as it will also update its EA Sports Complex with more racing tracks, leaderboards, racing boost shop and poker updates. Other new things that were teased on the PlayStation blog are Street Fighter IV and inFamous-branded items and costumes, so your avatar will certainly wear everything you like.

Overall, Home is growing by leaps and bounds and is becoming more and more popular by the day. Look forward to more updates every week.
