Now, it was time that Sony stopped a bit to think once more about the small things that add a pleasant spark of joy as we're working with our computers: computer loudspeakers. These minute things that have become a solid part of our everyday lives and which are almost all the time overlooked... maybe because they have become everyday stuff, have had their family augmented with no less
than five new models from Sony.

Aimed at midrange and traveling customers, the speakers in this new Sony wave are promising a neat audio experience for the undemanding listener or for small-importance in-office presentation purposes. We're not

talking huge amounts of power or full range performance here, but rather we're looking at a pleasant and most functional design, decent sound and ease of use, even in terms of portability.

The Z510 and A212B are sets which have been designed for users aiming for a solid desktop-grade sound; they are more than the speakers you use almost muted at work, from 9AM to 5PM and to whose sound no one really pays attention. Featuring their own controls and sound boosting tweaking options, the Z510 and A212B can be safely relied

on with full trust as they've been specced for almost heavy duty operation with pretty much anything related to computers, from CD playback to movies and unpretentious gaming. For example, the Z510 has a large 5.5cm driver and a MegaBass (now, that one sounds funny) switch, while the A212B has a 1-bit internal digital amp.

Sony A201 is almost the same thing with A212B but it runs with a simpler, 57mm driver while the AX10 has a desktop lamp design, aiming for the more postmodern, contemporary home decors. The cool thing about the lamp-speakers is that you can really use both their sound and design to shape your desk environment.

The portable version, codenamed M30 doesn't even need mains to run as it can operate on batteries as well and can be thus used not only with computers but with all sorts of portable music and media players. The two satellites can be attached to each other, forming a compact speaker, highly useful for trips and dynamic or critical space situations. All models announced for later this year with prices TBA.
