Thanks to a web camera and an internet connection, a 69 year old woman in California could be saved by her two sons in the Philippines and Norway. They saw that their mother had collapsed and immediately called for help.

Karin Jordal, age 69, collapsed Thursday in her living room in Pinon Hills, California, and was inert on a couch when her son Tore in the Philippines checked in through the Internet. Immediately afterwards he tried calling her on the phone but there was no reaction from her. Next, Tore tried to call the police and ambulances in California but couldn't get through so he called his brother who lives in Norway.

Ole Jordal received the call as he was having breakfast with his wife, originally from Long Island, New York, who knew exactly who to call and send help to Karin's house. Within the next ten minutes, ambulances and rescue teams were already at the old woman's house giving her the medical assistance she needed. Apparently, Karin collapsed because of low blood sugar which could put the diabetic woman through a world of trouble.
