FX’s hit series “Sons of Anarchy” is no stranger to shocking death scenes, but those that fans still mourn about can be counted on the fingers of one hand. These are the death of series regulars, which came across as both violent to the extreme and completely unexpected.

With the latest episode of season 7 of the series, “What a Piece of Work Is Man,” you can now add another one to that list.

Actor Mark Boone Jr. is already talking to the media, explaining why such a major character had to go and his feelings about it. Useless to say, if you’re not up to speed with season 7 of the series, *you should probably read no further, because the article contains major spoilers.*

The end is near for SAMCRO

As you’ve probably guessed from the events in season 6 and from what the cast members have already been telling the media (this includes series creator Kurt Sutter), SAMCRO will probably not survive the series finale.

The consensus among fans is that most of the leading characters will die by the end of the season, which is also the last; Gemma (Katey Sagal) and Jax (Charlie Hunnam) will most definitely meet their end soon, apparently.

Regardless of whether they will die or not, if Gemma gets what she deserves for Tara’s murder and everything else she’s done to ruin the club and her son’s life, SAMCRO will probably not survive. The very thing that made Jax stay in the club, his desire to save it by taking it out of the gun business, has set the wheels in motion for its destruction.

Bobby’s death was unexpected, but had to happen

Mark Boone Jr. played Bobby on the series, the man who’s been there from the start, through thick and thin – first by Clay’s side, then by Jax’s. Even Boone was surprised to find out that producers wanted Bobby dead, and would carry the scene out with such violence and speed.

He tells TV Line and ET Online in 2 separate interviews that, though very shocking, Bobby’s death will serve a purpose. Obviously, he can’t say which one it is right now, because that would mean giving away the ending – and for as much as people ask Boone to give them spoilers, he’s convinced they “don’t really want to know.”

However, he insists, “something big had to happen.” How typical of “Sons of Anarchy” to deliver that something “big” just when viewers at home thought Bobby was out of the woods, almost to safety.

Boone says he felt pain at saying goodbye to a character he dedicated so many years of his life to, and describes the scene of his death as almost unbearable. Like the fans at home, Boone personally blames Gemma for everything and he finds consolation in the hope that she will finally get what’s coming to her.
