Resistant to water, shock or dirt

Targeting people that work in harsh environments, for whom a usual mobile phone would prove not to be durable enough, Sonim released a mobile that is said to be shock, scratch, water and dust resistant, the Sonim X1.

Therefore, you can drop it on the floor, in water or mud, and - apparently - there will be no problem at all. It is also said to survive falls from heights of up to 1.3 meters. You can actually even try to experiment dropping it on various surfaces or from different heights just for the fun of it, because it is said to be almost impossible to break.

The Sonim X1 has been developed to suit the needs of industrial workers and sports enthusiasts, and will adapt to that kind of lifestyle perfectly, withstanding severe elemental and environmental conditions and still managing to pack some pretty useful features.

Apart from being resistant to practically anything, it also brings Push-To-Talk, which is a premiere in the world of ruggedized cell phones. It also comes with the usual mobile phone capabilities such as SMS or WAP services and promises an extended battery life and an easy to use interface.

"The Sonim XP1 provides a rugged but technologically advanced phone that meets the needs of both consumer clients who are looking for a durable phone for outdoor use and industrial workers who need a reliable, rugged handset," said Jojje Mabrant, Product Manager for mobile phones at Dialect.

For those who are interested in getting a mobile phone that won't get very damaged if dropped on the floor or in water, the IP52-Certified Sonim XP1 is now available in all of Swedish telecom retailer Dialect's stores. There is no information concerning the price so far.
