Sonim is known for its rugged products aimed at users who work in hazardous environments, as well as at those who simply like to party a lot in the most unusual places.

People who like hiking, skiing or mount climbing are most likely to prefer a robust mobile phone instead of one of these days modern smartphones that offer all kinds of unpractical features.

After hitting record after record with its previous JCB and XP3300 Force models, which were declared the toughest mobile phones on the planet by the Guinness World of Records, Sonim is ready to unveil a new handset that is intended to follow the same line of rugged mobile phones, the XP5300 Force 3G.

Although the company has yet to make any official announcements, it appears that the phone was unveiled during a formal meeting of Sonim's distributors.

Fortunately, an editor from GSM Helpdesk Netherlands attended the meeting and was able to summarize the phone's overview specs.

It appears that Sonim XP5300 Force 3G will offer users the possibility to connect the phone with their cars via Bluetooth, as well as  support for UMTS 900, 1700 and 2100 networks.

This is a new feature that Sonim had yet to make available to those who use their phones in the car in conjunction with a Bluetooth car kit.

In addition, the phone comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera that can also record videos, besides taking pictures.

According to Sonim, the XP5300 Force 3G has received IP68 certification, which should be able to meet even the most demanding needs.

The phone is able to withstand up to one hour submerged  under up to two meters of water and can be dropped (or thrown if you want) from a height of 20 meters, without getting damage.

It is also worth mentioning that the mobile phone is resistant to knocks and is dustproof, while the display is entirely protected by Gorilla Glass.

Sonim XP5300 Force 3G is delivered with a high capacity 1950 mAh battery that should provide up to 22 hours of talk time or up to 1500 hours of standby time.

No word on the price yet, but the phone is expected to be introduced on the market very soon.
