More adventures for the blue hedgehog

The gaming industry has a lot of iconic figures in the form of characters that have been a part of its patrimony for quite some time. Sega's Sonic the hedgehog is one of them, as it made history with its game series in the 1990s.

But sadly, Sega's dedicated Sonic Team hasn't managed to launch a good game in quite a while, and fans have begun to lose hope in the blue hedgehog. Fortunately however, as Sonic couldn't manage a good game on its own, Sega had a lot of other characters helping it out, and thus revealed Sega Superstars Tennis a few years ago.

But after practicing their tennis skills, the famous Sega characters will now take part in another sports activity: racing. That's right, the Japanese company has just unveiled Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing, which will feature all of the famous characters from the company racing on specific locations all around the world.

Dated for 2010 for a variety of platforms, including the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS, the game will feature more than just karts or cars, as some of the famous video game characters will also use flying planes or racing motorcycles.

“Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is no ordinary racing game. Its huge variety of characters and vehicles, plus the ability to play both online and off set it apart from other games of this type” commented Gary Knight, European marketing director, Sega Europe Ltd. "The team have pushed the boundaries on what you would normally expect and created a different and unique party racing title whereby you really can't take anything for granted!”

Hopefully this game will manage to make Sonic look good once again and reestablish fans’ hopes in the famous character. If not, perhaps Mario and Sonic at the Olympics will manage that feat.
